OAKLAND —Ahearing was delayed Monday on a motion to suppress taped jailhouse conversations and other evidence in the murder trial of three men.

The men are charged with killing an Alameda County sheriff's deputy during the botched 1998 robbery of a Dublin steakhouse.

Alameda County Judge Alfred Delucchi will take up that motion and others that are expected to be filed beginning Feb. 6 in an Oakland courtroom.

Miguel Galindo Sifuentes, 22, Hai Minh Le, 23, and Ruben Eliceo Vasquez, 26, want the tapes and evidence taken during searches of their homes and cars tossed out because they were wrongfully or illegally conducted, their lawyers contend.

Each man is charged with a single murder count stemming from the 1998 robbery of Outback Steakhouse in Dublin. Prosecutors contend the killing of John Paul Monego was committed during the robbery, a special circumstance allowing them to seek the death penalty.
